How do you say Bobeche?

Everyone knows the word but few know how to say it properly.

We hear every pronounciation of Bobeche out there some of them can be quit funny but the correct pronouciation is:

                    bo·beche
   (bō-běsh')
                     n.   A usually crystal collar on a candle socket used to catch drippings or  hold               suspended pendants.

Here are a few of the most frequent used mispronounciations:

      • BO BE SH
      • BO BECH E
      • BO BOSH
      • BO BOSH E

No matter how you say it, bobeches are a big part of Cristalier crystals and we offer a large selection of both acrylic and glass bobeches to add to your home decor.

Why would you want a Bobeche?

In the past they served a very important function; to catch candle drippings from falling from overhead and burning carpets, furniture and people. Now with the use of electric chandeliers ,bobeches are no longer a safety necessity.

Bobeches now are used to hold suspended crystals. Any chandelier can benefit from the addition of bobeches. Take a plain chandelier and once you add bobeches to it you now have a place to hang brilliant Cristalier Crystals from. Most bobeches have small metal pins attached to them for hanging crystals. You can also use the bobeches to string strands or chains of crystals from arm to arm of the chandelier.

While most bobeches are clear (they were made this way to let the light through in the candle days) you can spray paint yours to a variety of colors for a more designer look. Just be sure you only use the painted ones on electric chandeliers and not on candles.

If you need help choosing the perfect bobeche for your chandelier, call a Cristalier Designer at 1-888-9Prisms and they will be happy to assist you.
